Pairing Lockdown’s Top Trends with Cannabis

Taylor EngleMar 18, 2021

Well, it’s official. We’ve been living with the COVID-19 pandemic for exactly one year now. *starts frantically rolling blunt*…

As we navigate our way through 2021, we can’t help but reminisce on 2020 and how significantly every aspect of our world has changed since. The world shut its doors in March 2020, rendering those of us who were not essential workers to stay at home and try our very best not to panic.

But humans are resilient and innovative, even in the midst of a worldwide crisis. From toilet paper overload to Zoom trivia nights, in honor of our one-year COVID-versary, here are all of the quarantine trends we’re trying to forget–and the best Eaze products to pair them with.

1. #ToiletPaperChallenge + Everyday

To start out, we reminisce on one of the most chaotically pointless trends of 2020: the #ToiletPaperChallenge. When word of the pandemic first hit, many of us made a beeline for our nearest grocery store, panic-buying years’ worth of toilet paper.

Rather than using toilet paper for, well, the usual, many people took to social media to try their hand at the #ToiletPaperChallenge, where they kicked them around like soccer balls for entertainment. It was a simpler time.

Trying to relive your toilet paper glory? Pair this challenge with Everyday’s Super Silver Haze, a timeless strain that will provide you with enough energy to knock that toilet paper out of the park.

2. Online Shopping + Cann

Online shopping isn’t necessarily exclusive to lockdown, but lockdown definitely sent online shopping into its absolute HEYDAY. The amount of obscure Instagram brands that have popped up in the past few months alone is shocking, and even with stores opening back up, most people are still opting for the “click and buy.”

As you continue to spend copious amounts of money on tie-dye sweatsuits you don’t really need, pop open a refreshing can of Cann’s Blood Orange Cardamom. With a juicy, bright, zesty flavor, this drink is perfect for feeling light and happy–just make sure to imbibe towards the end of your online shopping spree so you don’t get TOO click-happy.

3. Zoom Game Nights/Happy Hours + Mad Lilly

Who else remembers this absolutely horrifying phase of early quarantine? Zoom game nights and/or happy hours were both the bane of our existence and one of the few things bringing us a sliver of joy. Either way, there’s no denying we’ve all attended at least one.

The weirdest part about Zoom “hangouts”, especially the happy hours, was the fact that you could have a really great time sipping some wine with your friends, and then close your laptop to find yourself drunk, alone, and home. Ugh.

In order to avoid this buzzkill, swap out the wine for one of Mad Lilly’s Ginger Pear 1:1 spritzer. With a refreshing taste and equal ratio of THC:CBD, these beverages are ideal for catching a balanced buzz.

4. Animal Crossing + SF Roots

Video games are also not exclusive to lockdown, but they certainly saw an engagement increase once we all started staying home–especially for Animal Crossing. The utopic game revolves around upgrading your fictional house and paying off “debts,” but in a manner that’s so adorable, you forget how black and white the concept really is.

With customizable outfits, features, and friends you can interact with, the game is pretty addictive–especially when you can’t leave your house for an extended period of time. Pair your Animal Crossing sesh with a smoke sesh: SF Roots’ Purple Ice Cream Cake. The strain is indica-dominant and perfect for a calm, relaxing couchlock ideal for a video game marathon.

5. Tiger King + Circles

We could have said streaming/binge-watching in general, but Tiger King was such a specific moment in lockdown that it simply can’t be overlooked or underestimated. As we spiraled into the chaotic unknown, we were comforted by the chaos of the eccentric Joe Exotic, big cat breeder and convicted felon.

If you didn’t jump on the first Tiger King craze, no worries–it’s never too late to get lost in the mesmerizing world of Jeff Lowe, John Reinke, and that “damn Carole Baskin.” Pair your binge-watch with Circles’ Venom OG Base Camp, a dense strain that encourages a deep, relaxing high–you’re going to need it after this wild ride.

6. Bread + Om Edibles

Homemade bread was another trend that everyone and their mother hopped on last year. There were all types of baked goods hitting social media, but big shoutout to banana bread and sourdough, which definitely reigned supreme during this bout of mania.

Whether you’re turning to your sourdough starter yet again or peeling ripe banana after ripe banana, try topping your creations with some of Om Edibles’ THC olive oil. Bread and olive oil were meant to be together, and THC was meant to be with everything.

7. Dalgona Coffee + Heavy Hitters

While we’re talking about kitchen crazes, we’d be foolish to exclude Dalgona coffee–a.k.a., “whipped” coffee. This trend was nowhere and then everywhere, all at once. The South Korean street treat was popular in the ’70s and ’80s, and made a special reappearance for 2020.

The beverage is about 80% aesthetic appeal and 20% taste, and it’s really messy to create, but there’s a certain satisfaction that goes along with posting the perfect Insta shot of your sweet coffee.

Pair your creation with Heavy Hitters’ Malibu OG Ultra, a beachy strain that hits hard enough for you to forget how messy your kitchen is.

8. TikTok + dreamt

If you asked a Millennial at the start of 2020 if they had TikTok, they would have scoffed. But lockdown changes people. Now, much to Gen Z’s chagrin, everyone is on TikTok, from those pesky Millennials to Boomers and everything in between.

Pair your daily TikTok binges with dreamt’s award-winning sleep gummies, designed to encourage deep sleep, which you’ll need after incessantly scrolling for hours.

9. Home Haircuts + Luchador

Thankfully this horrific phase of lockdown is over now that barber shops and salons are open again, but if you didn’t have at least one traumatic at-home haircut at some point in 2020, you didn’t do it right.

Pair your shearing with some of Luchador’s Watermelon Super Strong Tincture–1000mg of pure THC to cheer you up and relax you after sobbing at your reflection in the mirror.

10. Livestream Concerts + Kiva Confections

The pandemic forced all shows, concerts, and festivals to be canceled, but that didn’t stop artists from taking to their social media feeds for live shows and DJ sets to pass the time. Dancing alone in your room was pretty brutal, but it helped us make it through in some small way.

Pair your weird solo dance session with some of Kiva’s Live Resin Watermelon Chew. This fruity snack is a refreshing hybrid of Wedding Cake and Watermelon Zkittlez, great for a euphoric and relaxing high.
