Monday Munchies is a series in which we sample a quintessential California dish and try to figure out which cannabis product will best complement it. With a state-wide shelter-in-place order, we’ve been exploring new ways to satisfy our Monday Munchies at home.
It’s week 7—or 700—since California announced a statewide shelter-in-place order, and we’re ready to indulge in food cooked by someone other than ourselves.
To make sure your Monday is free of greasy pots and pans, we polled our team and surfaced some regional favorites:
1. If you’re in LA, check out Locali
With locations in DTLA, West Hollywood, Venice, and Hollywood, Locali takeout is where you want to spend your 20-minute socially-distanced walk. Or at the click of a button on DoorDash and Postmates, you can transport yourself to brunch with Locali’s variety of plant-based options, from breakfast sandwiches and quinoa bowls to hemp milkshakes and vegan coconut froyo.
What to order: Our go-to munchies order is the Baaadasss Breakfast Sandwich. Pro Tip: Substitute the default English Muffin for the gluten-free bread or bagel. We know how this sounds, but trust us–even our gluten-loving friends swear by Locali’s GF bread:
2. If you’re in San Francisco, check out Burma Superstar
Another Eaze favorite, Burma Superstar satisfies our deepest carb cravings. Whether you’re ordering on GrubHub, Uber Eats, Postmates or grabbing takeout, Burma Superstar can make the delicious meal you definitely don’t have all the ingredients in your pantry for.
What to order: We like to feast when we order from Burma Superstar. Our go-to order (I promise we split with our roommates) consists of vegetarian superstar fried rice, shrimp and garlic noodles, coconut rice, spicy and crispy chicken, tea leaf salad, mango tofu, and sesame chicken.
3. If you’re in San Diego…check out Piatti
Quarantine shouldn’t cancel your date night plans. Grab some takeout or Postmates/DoorDash some Italian tonight from Piatti in La Jolla. What to order: We go all out and recreate the trattoria experience by starting with some oven-roasted olives and tomato apps. For our main course, you can’t go wrong with any of the pastas or pizzas, but our favorites are the wild mushroom ritolo and the seafood pasta. Oh and the tiramisu, definitely get the tiramisu.
4. Expand your circle
To complement those savory carbs and cool you down in the midst of this heat wave (not looking at you SF), order Circles’ Pink Lemonade. While you wait for that rush order or Craigslist AC unit to arrive, this designer blend will make you feel refreshed with every puff.
In the spirit of branching out of your pantry, relish those final days of 4/20 by getting some friends and friends of friends together for a virtual Sesh. Only four days left to take advantage of Eaze’s 420 double-referral program.
