How to Celebrate Pride 2020 at Home

Taylor EngleJun 2, 2020

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the tradition of LGBTQIA+ Pride celebrations around the world. A holiday typically adorned with life and love in color, brought to you by some of the most courageous people in the world. It is a time both to champion queer and trans lives, and bring attention to the fact that inequality is still alive and well.

Pride is normally celebrated out loud and unabashed, so having to honor the 50th anniversary from your post at bored-in-the-house feels anticlimactic. But it just takes a bit of perspective to keep the excitement alive.

For most kids who grew up queer or trans, coming to terms with identity is a long process–especially for those who came of age in areas where they felt entirely alone and unrelatable. The Internet has long been a place for queer and trans people to find each other, and in each other, find community.

Maybe you’ve been planning your Pride 2020 costume for the past three years and you already took off the weekend to celebrate with your friends, but there’s a certain sentimentality that comes with celebrating Pride online. In honor of anyone who’s ever been afraid to be themselves and instead turned to their Internet family to feel truly seen and heard, Pride 2020 is a chance to reflect on your journey and stay connected–now, more than ever.

Luckily and unsurprisingly, Pride organizations all over the world have been working to assemble an online Pride that will rival all of your Zoom calls combined. Think Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve, but queer. In the age of the face mask, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Here are all the hottest virtual Pride events throughout the month of June that will keep you in high spirits and the wonderful cannabis brands donating a portion of Pride proceeds to LGBTQIA+ organizations.

1. Global Pride + PLUS Gummies

In honor of the 50th Pride, Pride organizations worldwide have come together for Global Pride, to take place on Saturday, June 27th. Global Pride aims to be participatory, no matter where you are in the world. It will feature music performances, speeches, and key messages from human rights activists. PLUS’ Limited Edition Pride Rainbow Sherbet cannabis-infused gummies contain 5mg of THC each, providing an uplifting and euphoric high from a sativa blend.
