Sure, the Americano is actually an Italian drink, but what’s more American than taking something from Europe and making it better? (see: hamburgers, hot dogs, & most of your July 4th snacks spread). This low-calorie, low-THC highball is the perfect aperitif to get you ready for a barbeque feast. Loaded with hops & Campari, this drink hits you with grapefruit-like bitterness (IPA lovers rejoice), but it is oh so refreshing. Feeling a little foggy on July 5th? The Hoppy Americano is also the perfect hair-of-the-dog sipper.

George Washington Julep

2oz Laird’s Bottled In Bond Straight Apple Brandy

.5oz Simple Syrup

1ml Ritual DayTime CBD Drops

Fresh Mint

Pick off 6 mint leaves from the stem and drop them in a julep tin (you can use the bottom tin of a cocktail shaker or any metal cup if you don’t have a julep tin). Add the simple syrup and CBD drops and gently muddle together the leaves, syrup, and drops with a barspoon. Fill halfway with crushed ice, then pour in the apple brandy and stir for 10 seconds. Add ice until there is a cone of ice above the rim of the tin. Grab 4 sprigs of fresh mint and gently slap them to release their oils, then stick the bouquet of mint into the ice. Let rest for a few minutes, then serve with a straw.

George Washington was a big fan of America’s oldest distiller, Laird’s. He was also a big fan of growing hemp for industrial uses. Whether he grew it “for his own purposes” is up for debate, but we like to imagine him enjoying the last two years of his life at Mount Vernon with the help of a little CBD & Laird’s.

It was around that same time that the Mint Julep was entering the mainstream of American mixology (though it didn’t include ice yet, yikes). So we put that all together into a deliciously refreshing taste of American tradition: the George Washington Julep. It’s perfect for a hot July 4th afternoon. Just don’t tell any Kentucky Derby fans that we put weed and apple brandy in their precious Mint Julep.

The Yes We Cann

1 oz Limoncello

0.5oz St. Germain

The hard work is already done for you because these flavorful social tonics are absolutely delicious, made with lemon from Sicily, all-natural lavender, agave, and California cannabis extract. Just amplify the drink’s citric and flower-based flavors with an ounce of Limoncello and half an ounce of St. Germain, some lemon slices and some crushed ice. You can add sugar to the rim and voila!
